KANBAN Overview - created on my iPad

Upon getting my iPAd the first thing I did was create a mock up of a Kanban board using the omnigraffle diagram software. The board is based on several chapters of David J Anderson's great book "KANBAN - successful, evolutionary change for your technology business. I think the results turned out pretty well. Feel free to use and reuse, btw I highly recommend getting David's book, it's a game changer IMHO...

  1. Is it possible to post a higher resolution image?

  2. +1, it seems you did a pretty good job with this mock-up of a Kanban board but with the low resolution of the image, one can't read all the interesting details in here. I would thus love a higher resolution image to be able to reuse that nice piece of work you did.

  3. Nice, but why do you have a Done column as well as a Ready for ... column? For example, Requirements > Done and Dev Ready. Aren't they both the same?

  4. ...ready columns are knowns as queues, they have separate WIP limits from a particular stage such as dev. They help ensure that downstream processes always have work. Unevenness in flow can cause some resources to become idle.

Queue cause lead times to increase, but are a good idea IMHO for new teams, I tried starting a kanban with no queues, and we quickly added them.

  5. I'd love the Omnigraffle version of this.
Or a higher res, so I can read the smaller text, great work!

  10. Hi Jeff, I'm reading David's book now, and we are adopting it into our development practices. I'd love to use your overview as part of our teaching materials for our staff, I'd like to be able to print it larger and was wondering if you had a higher res version you could share.

    Thanks!
